I’m Steve Reeve, founder and Managing Director of Sporting Difference, and I started the “Be More Leader” group to give people managers free access to resources they can use to develop themselves, particularly their leadership skills. Anyone can be a good leader, it’s not about having a big personality, being an amazing speaker or being great at everything. It’s about making others believe in themselves, developing them to meet present and future challenges and creating an environment where they feel fulfilled and valued. If that sounds daunting don’t be discouraged because I promise you, leadership is a skill and it can be learnt.
That doesn’t mean it’s easy but with more than half of people leaving organisations saying that they are doing so because of their boss, and 93% saying they are underperforming at work, it’s a skill that definitely needs improving in the UK. My videos will help anyone responsible for getting results through others to understand the key behaviours of successful leaders, and how they can adapt those behaviours to suit their own style. Each video will be short, around three minutes, and contain ideas you can immediately put into practice. They will be different from anything you’ve seen before as they will include excerpts from interviews I’ve held with successful managers of professional sports teams, who share their thoughts and experiences of maximising team performance.
I then combine those with proven tools and skills from the business world to bring you a totally unique and inspiring approach to getting the best out of people. If you’d like to receive future episodes straight into your inbox then simply sign up below. Some of the topics covered include motivation, giving great feedback and dealing with difficult people. I hope you enjoy the content but, more importantly, I hope you find it useful.
Don’t forget, in addition to the videos you can take part in our virtual community which gives you the opportunity to participate in a number of activities to help develop your leadership skills, you can:
- Share examples of good and bad leadership
- Take part in surveys and receive the results
- Exchange leadership ideas
- Have your specific leadership issues addressed
Companies we’ve worked with include:
